Forehead Reduction Surgery: Key Insights
Forehead reduction aims to correct facial proportions by reducing the distance between the hairline and the eyebrows.
The operation, performed under general anesthesia, usually lasts about two hours. Surgeons remove up to 4 cm of hairless skin below the hairline, following a zigzag (pretrichial) incision that helps camouflage the scar. Hair follicles are carefully preserved to maintain a natural hairline. After removing the excess skin, the area is closed with aesthetic sutures, and patients typically stay one night in the hospital.
This procedure is often combined with other facial surgeries such as fox eye, eyebrow lift, or mid-face lift to enhance overall facial balance. In cases where the forehead exceeds 9–10 cm, two options are available: a two-step reduction surgery or a balloon-assisted technique.
Between 2019 and 2025, Dr. Ekizceli performed around 1000 forehead reduction surgeries, making him one of World’s most experienced specialists. His signature technique, known as “C Reduction”, uses a zigzag incision, a 45-degree cutting angle, and five-layer suturing to preserve hair follicles and minimize visible scars. This method ensures a natural hairline and fast recovery, placing Dr. Ekizceli among the top surgeons for forehead reduction and forehead reduction surgery.
In 2025, Dr. Ekizceli’s clinical experience was also reflected in the scientific literature through his PubMed-indexed article, “Forehead Reduction: A Retrospective Study of 820 Consecutive Cases” https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/41219546/
